Peter Bosz Reacts to PSV's Humiliating 1-7 Defeat Against Arsenal

With the second leg against Arsenal approaching, PSV will need a miracle to stay in the Champions League

A Night to Forget for PSV Eindhoven

The Dutch side was completely overwhelmed by Mikel Arteta’s team, conceding seven goals in front of their home crowd

Despite a first-half penalty goal from Noa Lang, PSV had no response to Arsenal’s relentless attack.

The Gunners found the net through Jurrien Timber (18’), Ethan Nwaneri (21’), Mikel Merino (31’), Martin Ødegaard (47’, 73’), Leandro Trossard (48’), and Ricardo Calafiori (85’).

With this devastating loss, PSV’s chances of progressing in the competition now seem almost impossible.

Peter Bosz Calls the Loss "Painful and Humiliating"

Speaking after the match, PSV manager Peter Bosz did not hold back in his assessment of the team’s performance.

“It was painful. Humiliating. We had no chance. We were completely outplayed by a very strong opponent. We are in a tough phase,”

Bosz admitted during the post-match press conference.

His frustration was evident as he acknowledged Arsenal’s dominance.

The London side converted seven of their eight shots on target, leaving PSV’s goalkeeper Walter Benítez helpless.

PSV’s Recent Struggles Continue

This defeat is just one of several setbacks for PSV in the past week. The team has now lost three consecutive matches in different competitions:

  • Dutch Cup Semifinals: Lost 1-2 to Go Ahead Eagles

  • Eredivisie: Defeated 2-3 by Go Ahead Eagles

  • Champions League: Crushed 1-7 by Arsenal

These results have placed immense pressure on Bosz and his squad.

PSV currently sits second in the Eredivisie, trailing league leaders Ajax by eight points.

Bosz Vows to Turn Things Around

Despite the recent struggles, the PSV coach remains determined to steer the team back on track.

“Of course, I will bring things back to the right path. We must do it together. We have shown before that we can bounce back, as we did against Juventus and Feyenoord in the Cup,” Bosz stated.

With the second leg against Arsenal approaching, PSV will need a miracle to stay in the Champions League.

However, Bosz insists that his team will not give up without a fight.
