Palace Plot £130 Million Overhaul

The Eagles have kicked off planning for a new, more physically dominant style

Marc Guehi and Eberechi Eze earmarked for sale to bankroll a squad rebuild

One name on Glasner’s wishlist is Jobe Bellingham, the younger brother of Real Madrid’s Jude

Chelsea FC has managed to close the 2023-24 season with a profit, despite its massive spending spree in recent years.

Guehi’s Imminent Departure

Central defender Marc Guehi (24) enters the final year of his contract, and Palace chiefs are determined to cash in rather than risk losing him on a free next summer.

According to The Sun, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are all monitoring his situation. Newcastle, having offered £70 million last summer, are ready to rekindle talks—especially if they secure Champions League qualification, making a move more appealing for Guehi.

“We have to be pragmatic with Marc,” a Palace director admitted. “He’s performed superbly, but his contract situation forces our hand.”

Eze’s Release Clause Trigger

Creative hub Eberechi Eze also looks set for a big-money exit. The 24-year-old midfielder’s £60 million release clause becomes active at the end of the season—drawing interest from Manchester United and Tottenham. With two years remaining on his deal, Eze represents a rare opportunity to recoup significant funds and reinvest heavily.

“Eze has been our engine,” Glasner noted. “But we must balance ambition with financial reality.”

Glasner’s Radical Rebuild

Despite a memorable run to the FA Cup final, Palace’s inconsistency in the Premier League left Glasner unimpressed.

The Austrian boss, known for his demanding pressing system, has outlined plans to reshape the squad around greater physicality and defensive solidity. Sources reveal Palace aim to sign up to six new players, targeting a blend of youth and experience.

One name on Glasner’s wishlist is Jobe Bellingham, the younger brother of Real Madrid’s Jude. The Sunderland midfielder could arrive if his club fail to secure promotion—though Palace will also probe established top-flight talent to anchor their revamp.

Financing the Future

Proceeds from the Guehi and Eze sales—potentially totalling £130–£140 million—will form the backbone of Palace’s transfer kitty. The board has green-lit a significant budget, contingent on the duo’s departures, to ensure the rebuild meets Glasner’s tactical vision.

This summer spending spree represents one of the largest in the club’s history and underscores Palace’s ambition to break into the Premier League’s upper echelons.
